  Tanoli - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Tanolies (also spelt Tanauli, Tanawali) are a prominent and famous Muslim tribe residing mainly in the Amb, Hazara district of NWFP Pakistan.
The Janjua Tanolis are adamant of their descendancy and legitimacy to their ancestral name of Tanoli, and further disclaim other tribes claims to their ancestral name purely on the grounds of geographical residence of their ancestral kingdom.
The majority of Tanolis reside in the former state of Amb in the Hazara division of the North-West Frontier Province of Pakistan.

Tanolis are now a pashtunised tribe and reside mainly in Hazara.
Their ancestor, Raja Tanoli (also spelt Tanawali/Tanauli) the younger son of Raja Mal Khan founded the Tanawal state in the North-West Frontier Province corner of Hazara district.
The Tanoli Khan's initially allied with the Abdali army in The Third Battle of Panipat which took place on January 14, 1761 at Panipat (Haryana State, India) where they famously defeated 250,000 strong army of Marathas with an army of only 60,000 soldiers, from allied tribes.
