Tara was born on the 18th September 1967 in Cuckfield with brown eyes to an Irish mother (Sarah) and Italian born father (Michael Callaby) who separated when Tara was 4 yrs old.
Tara as a child went to six primary schools as far apart as Stratford-upon-Avon, London and the Bahamas (taken there by both parents to see her mother's father a Dublin lawyer, who had settled there for tax purposes).
Tara has completed work on Secret Passage opposite John Turturro, a period drama which is set in Venice during the Spanish Inquisition, and Five Children and It, a family adventure film based on Edith Nesbit's classic 1902 novel, which is was released in the U.K. on October 22, 2004.

The Sussex-born daughter of a photographer and a poet (and the grand-niece of actress Geraldine Fitzgerald), she had a bohemian upbringing and entered London's Drama Centre in 1986.
Fitzgerald subsequently lent her ethereal qualities to "Sirens" (1994) as the wife of a clergyman (Hugh Grant) seduced by the bohemian lifestyle of eccentric artist Norman Lindsay (Sam Neill).

Tara Fitsgerald, while indeed beautiful, plays the role of Helen a tad too harshly, which, while serving to alenate the townsfolk, serves also to alienate the viewer somewhat.
The only thing I felt a bit sorry about was that somehow I did not really like Tara Fitzgerald (although I liked her deep voice very much and thought it gave strength to her character) and had trouble feeling sorry for her...
