No Place for a Woman: The Family in Film Noir (Low-Graphics Version)
Noir films' visual representation of these characters and their surroundings also can be interpreted to show support for the nuclear family and disapproval of independent women and unsatisfied husbands.
The explicit messages of film noir seem to be clear regarding women and the family: Women who transgress the boundaries of conventional family life meet with and deserve the most extreme punishment, and the men who fall victim to their sexual charms meet a similar fate.
Noir films immediately convey the intense sexual presence of the femme fatale by introducing her as a fully established object of the hero's obsession.

Beside her, Tara was chanting beneath her breath and zapping the painted-face creepies with small firebolts, while Anya had grabbed a squeaky horn and was honking it loudly into whatever ears she could find, startling them for Xander, who tossed clowns in an amazingly impressive way, face set in a determined expression.
Tara's energies were a sympathetic mirror, mingling and resonating with hers as they never had before, not even in lovemaking, coursing through their joined bodies and making them--her--stronger, her darkness lighter.
Tara sat next to them, her hands clasped together, while Willow perched on the couch's arm; it was obvious at a glance that each woman was carefully not touching the other, though the space between them didn't look fraught with tension.

Tara turned once again towards Stillen and opened her pinkish coloured lips to talk "So im not alone on this mission i see....Pyro" she gave a little smile, not a big one but a tiny one.

Tara Angel might be right at home twirling around in soft focus videos, but she also has a strong Suzanna Vega style delivery, one that puts the voice ahead of the music just in case you were wondering exactly who is in charge.
Tara Angell’s music is an interesting beast: it’s protective of its hidden contents, because those are the most precious, the most heartfelt and the most interesting elements of sonic exploration.

Tara was effectively, if not super-frequently, portrayed as the "Scoobie who wasn't quite one of the Scoobies." Willow kept her to herself for a while, increasing Tara's insecurity about being accepted by the gang.
Considering that Tara's growing self-esteem was pretty young, and that the relationship with Willow was an obvious part of that, and that it was probably her first major love, I think it showed great strength and growth on her part to leave exactly when she did.
Tara strongly hinted she had been in other relationships before Willow, though the intensity of these was left unstated.

No Place for a Woman: Introduction
His statement is especially striking because it dismisses courage as a myth soon after World War II, rejecting a basic cultural belief that all of America and all of Hollywood had just spent four years trying to build up.
Indeed, many of the most popular films of the 1930s and '40s depict the family almost as a cure-all that will save the hero from any trouble, if he or she can only learn to appreciate it.
World War II only intensified American culture's endorsement of society's dominant ideology and the importance of shared values — values that may be said to begin with the "traditional" nuclear family.
