The Targa Newfoundland is named after the famed Targa Florio, the scene of many Porsche's historic competition victories.
The original Targa Florio was run on the island of Sicily on public road, seldom little more than a racecar wide, and often along treacherous mountain roads.
In an attempt to bring this kind of competition to North America, the Targa Newfoundland was initiated this year with the help of the Newfoundland Provincial government.

For the Carrera and Targa- I would run a 2.0L engine, probably with dual Webers- that would put me into Sport Menor for the Carrera, and a similar class for the Targa (right?).
With the Carrera and Targa set up, the car would be allowed to run in virtually any vintage race.

Global TV in Canada will be airing a one hour Targa Newfoundland special on Saturday, January 28 at 7 PM ET.
I haven’t had a chance to upload and organize everything–the yahoo firefox uploader was behaving oddly last night–but the MINI pics are in there somewhere.
This program was more a travel log about Targa Newfoundland and some strong individual determination story than any great racing action… Don’t expect much to do about MINI nothing.

I keep the TV tuned to the speed channel, and the Targa Newfoundland was on.
Yeah they usually run the targa throughout the eastern and central parts of the island.
Whenever you go to Newfoundland and get to know someone from there, and you guys start visiting other people......be prepared to eat alot.
