I am not sure whether this is because Target has changed its product lines, or if I have gotten older (it's about 8 years since I last set foot in one) and daggier.

When we first moved to St. Paul about 7 years ago, we used to frequent a Target over in the Midway area, which a friend of ours used to refer to as "Targhetto" because it was surrounded on all sides by urban blight.
Unlike other discounters, Target also has wedding and baby registries, so low income people can sign up for getting nice stuff where before the only local option was to sign up for the high priced fine china at the old line department stores.
