Tarim was born the youngest child of Hakim Ravenmane; the Shaman Adept of the Tree Ghost Tribe of the Old Forest and Lyssa a mysterious woman from another tribe that Hakim had fallen in love with and married.
Tarim was still by far the weakest male adult of the tribe, but he was able to use his wits and intelligence to his advantage enough to gain respect.
Tarim has always looked up to his older siblings especially Aragrym who is much bigger and stronger than he is. Aragrym had often been the barrier between the other village children and him, protecting the “runt” as he calls him sometimes.

The Tarim Basin is the largest basin in the world, lying between several mountain ranges in the Xinjiang Autonomous Region (also known as East Turkistan and Chinese Turkistan) in China's far west.
The Silk road in the Tarim Basin between Kashgar (39°28′ N 76°03′ E) and Yumen (39°50′ N 97°34′ E) split in two routes, along the northern and the southern edges of the Taklamakan.
The Chinese managed to take control of the Tarim Basin from the Xiongnu at the end of the 1st century CE under the leadership of general Ban Chao (32-102 CE).

 Tarim mummies - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Tarim mummies are a series of Caucasoid mummies which have been excavated in the Tarim Basin (Eastern Central Asia, today the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China), and dated to the 2nd and 1st millenium BC.
In the same geographical area, reference to the Yuezhi was made in name in 645 BC by the Chinese economist Guan Zhong, raising the possibility that the europoid mummies may have been identical and ancestors to the Yuezhi.
The presence of Caucasians in the Tarim Basin in the 1st millennium BC suggests that cultural exchanges happened between western populations and Chinese populations at a very early date.

Tarim is refered to by the Islamic author Yaqout Al-Hamawi's book (the dictionary of countries), as one of the two main cities of the province Hadramout.
Saeed Awad Bawazir stated that Tarim's establishment was during the rule of the Shebaen ruler named Hadramout, and it was either called in relation to the name of the youngest son of Sheba the first ruler and founder of the Kingdom-or relative to the name of their tribe.
Later on, Tarim became the capital of one ruling state called Bani Yemeni, which was established and existed around the period 620-920 Hijria.

Some scholars believe the Tarim Basin people probably migrated through central Eurasia to the land that, centuries later, became known as the southern leg of the famous Silk Route linking East and West.
But Kamberi believes the Tarim Basin people existed as a tribe in the region from time-before-time; he has discovered a single piece of human skull in the mountains near there that dates back a half-million years, he said.
He became determined to hunt down the Tarim Basin people's history in the early 1990s, after the frozen 4,000-year-old body of a man was found preserved in the Alps on the Austria-Italy border.

The only thing that's odd would be that, unless Tarim's sister was very cruel to him when he was little, he probably would be very attached to her.

It is a fascinating and readable account and presents a valuable compendium of recent research on a little-known region that has long been the focus of romantic speculation by travelers and explorers from Marco Polo to Aurel Stein.
In the end, their "working hypothesis" is that the earliest Bronze Age colonists of the Tarim Basin were people of Caucasoid physical type who entered probably from the north and west, and probably spoke languages that could be classified as Pre- or Proto-Tocharian, ancestral to the Indo-European Tocharian languages documented later in the Tarim Basin.
At the eastern end of the Tarim Basin, people of Mongoloid physical type began to be buried in cemeteries such as Yanbulaq some centuries later, during the later second or early first millennium B.C. About the same time, Iranian-speaking people moved into the Tarim Basin from the steppes to the west.

A lake at the lower reaches of the Tarim River, China's longest inland river, has been forced to move 30 to 40 kilometers westward over the past 40 years by a sprawling desert on its northeast.
A satellite picture taken in August 2002 showed the center of Taitema Lake, where the Tarim River empties, has shifted to the western side of a trunk highway in the region, said Yuan Guoying, a research fellow with the Environmental Protection Institute of northwestern Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
Yuan said he first proposed the hypothesis about the lake's moving westward in August 2003, when he accompanied a group of Chinese and German experts on a field survey on the ecosystem at the lower reaches of the Tarim River, which is sandwiched between the Taklimakan and Kuruktag deserts.
