A voivodship (in Polish województwo) is a unit of administrative division and local government in Poland since the 14th century.
As a result of Local Government Reogranization Act of 1998, 16 new voivodships were created (effective January 1 1999) and replaced the 49 voivodships which had existed since 1 July 1975.
Tree smallest voivodships of Warsaw, Cracow and Lodz had special status of city voivodship; the city president (mayor) was also province governor.

A Voivodship, also spelled Voivodeship, Voivodina or Vojvodina (Romanian: voievodat, Polish: województwo, Serbian: vojvodina (војводина), vojvodstvo (војводство) or vojvodovina (војводовина), Hungarian: vajdaság, Lithuanian: vaivadija), is a geographical unit of administration dating to medieval Romania, Hungary, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Russia and Serbia (see Vojvodina), ruled by a Voivod (voivode).
The term voivodship is used in the native languages for the 16 voivodeships of Poland, and for the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina in Serbia, and has found its way into English in some of the larger dictionaries such as the OED, though it is not in common usage.

Tarnobrzeg is located in Tarnobrzeg region at 50º35 21º41, 106km from Kielce and 14 km from Sandomierz.
The first mention of Jews in Tarnobrzeg was 1593, but the first Jewish community was established in the first half of the 17th century.
Buried in the cemetery are Tzaddik Eliezar (d.1860), his sons and grandsons, originally buried in an old cemetery and transferred to this one after its liquidation.

The Voivodship Prosecutor’s Office in Katowice prepared an indictment containing 9 charges against Salomon Morel, and then,, in March 1998, the Polish Ministry of Justice submitted to the authorities of Israel a first application for Morel’s extradition.
It was rejected because under Israeli law, the crimes of which Morel was accused had lapsed under the statute of limitations.
