Further, Tarsila used the "ground" with malicious ambiguity, in such a way that it would be possible to perceive it, at times as an analytical unfolding of planes, at others as a ciphered sign of a particular landscape-signaled, so as to erase all doubts, by a gigantic banana leaf.
And, having exhausted this pictorial project at the dawn of the '30s, Tarsila may not have created a substantial body of painting throughtout her life, but she did produce a crucial reflection on the question of heteronomy in Brazilian art.
Above all, it is worth considering that Tarsila confronted these questions, as it was said, enveloped in the objective field of form; she was enchanted by the idea of looking freshly and without prejudice at Brazilian reality, and very little motivated by theoretical formulations and intellectual speculations.

XXIV Bienal - Tarsila do Amaral
It can be said, then, that starting from the step taken by Tarsila, and despite all the reactionary movements that followed her in the history of Brazilian art, movements implicated after all in the cultural dynamic of a peripheral context, we constituted a small and heterodox constructive tradition.
Beginning in the mid Ë50s, his painting incorporated, in equal doses, the constructive tradition and a certain anarchic informalism that emanated from the contemporary milieu, in a combination that guaranteed the anti-dogmatic slant of the work and that would produce some precious metaphysical canvases at the beginning of the Ë60s.
The strategy of anthropophagy, as of TarsilaËs painting, presupposed a resplendent and imperious universalization of form, on the level of the awaited internationalization of the industrial revolution.
