		TAstV was found in samples collected from flocks with poult enteritis and stunting as well as from healthy flocks.
		The TAstV isolates studied formed two well-defined groups, with isolates from healthy flocks clustered in one group and isolates from flocks with poult enteritis and stunting divided between both groups.

		The goal of our current research is to delineate the pathological course of PEMS and the role of the TastV in the development of the clinical syndrome.
		RT-PCR, immunohistochemistry, and in-situ hybridization will be used to determine the initial location of the TAstV, the kinetics of viral shedding, the organs that support viral replication, and the association of the TAstV with lymphocytes and macrophages.

		Technical Abstract: The objective of this study was to determine the genetic variability of Astroviruses in Turkeys.
		The capsid gene nucleotide sequences of the TAstV isolates studied showed between 80% and 96% similarity with the corresponding region of TAstV-2.
		The results indicate that there is significant genetic variation between TAstV isolates suggesting that more than one serotype of the virus could be present in the field.

		This study seeks to determine the extent of apoptosis caused by turkey astrovirus, TastV, infection.
		A group of coronavirus negative turkeys was inoculated orally at seven days of age with bacteria free intestinal homogenate harvested from astrovirus infected embryos.
		While research is ongoing, it can be noted that TastV infection leads to alterations in the apoptotic cell populations in both the intestines and bursae of infected poults.

		Oh the way my source described it, both were going to show it, I wasn't sure what the story was.
		Pity it couldn't have been the other way around so that Southern Cross Tas would be in line with Southern Cross 10 on the mainland, but obviously with their strong exisiting Seven affiliation this isn't possible.
		It seems the test pattern will be up just before christmas (22nd December) and will run a straight Channel 10 feed from Melbourne for the first 4 weeks then there will be a few changes put in place.

		Beardy was telling me the TasTV General Manager has indeed been appointed now, and they are also putting on a sales manager in the near future.
		I would say Southern Cross's recent switch to 16x9 was not so much to please the very small number of digital viewers in Hobart, but rather to meet the basic technical requirements fro the new channel.
		On a related note I imagine since Southern Cross will be handling the broadcasting side of things for TasTV, that we'll be getting the same digital-PAL-digital signal that we get from them now, until they’re able to deliver a digital signal next year :(Better than nothing of course, but still frustrating.
