Tashbaan is the capital city of Calormen, a great empire south of the land of Narnia in the Chronicles of Narnia.
Tashbaan is a great city built on an island in the delta of a great river.
Tashbaan is surrounded by a strong wall that is built partially out of the water and is the only place where crossing the great river of Calormen is possible for many miles.

Trouble arises when they are forced to pass through the opulent but congested Calormene capital of Tashbaan, and are separated.
The scenes in Tashbaan are, in fact, surprisingly evocative of place, and in their vividness one can clearly see the fondness Lewis must have had for the Arabian Nights legends that helped to inspire them.
It isn't a racist depiction, by any means — after all, Aravis is one of them — but the point is made that Calormen has a cruel and ignoble culture compared to those of the north.

Anyway, before someone asks, no it is not a front view of Tashbaan.
The only thing I would think to change on this picture is to make the city a little less Eastern and a little more Agrabah (think Aladdin).
