As the prisoners were being loaded to transport them out of the area, a Blackhawk helicopter carrying part of the assault force was disabled by a rocket powered grenade and crashed into the narrow street of Aideed's stronghold.
At the time of their fathers' deaths, the children's ages ranged from one month to seventeen years; the median age was about five years.

I am enclosing this picture, I am just returning it as a memorial to the men who gave the ultimate sacrifice on Oct. 3rd, 1993, and I will always honour them for they did not leave the body of their comrade to fall into the hands of the enemy.
I'd be interested in having fellow Rangers read it [see book at right], especially the part about Somalia in the events leading up to 3 Oct. I was with 1-22 INF, the unit that did the Abdi House Raid.
