Using the implementation methodologies, workshops and consulting services from Tata Consultancy Services, a division of Tata Sons Ltd., and technology from Oracle Corp., Virgin began the task of determining how best to approach the RFID pilot program.
Virgin is looking at the supply chain process from the point where parts enter the Virgin warehouse from suppliers and manufacturers to the point where they enter the inspection area and, from there to binning, storage and dispatch.
With the help of TCS, which takes a business process approach to RFID testing and implementation, Virgin determined that rather than trying to find a business case to rationalize the technology, it would focus on optimizing a single process.

Tata Consultancy Services, a division of Tata Sons Ltd and one of the world's largest global software and services consulting organizations, has acquired Aviation Software Development Consultancy India Ltd (ASDC), a company focused on providing consultancy and solutions to the aviation industry.
March 9, 2004: The acquisition of ASDC, which was a joint venture between the Tata Group and Singapore Airlines (SIA), was completed with the purchase of a residual 51 per cent stake from Singapore Airlines through a cash deal of Rs.140.25 million (about Singapore $5.3 million) paid by Tata Sons Ltd to Singapore Airlines.
Prior to the acquisition, TCS held a 49 per cent stake through Tata Sons and Tata Industries in the company.
