Grand Duchess Tatiana Nikolaievna of Russia (Tatiana Nikolaievna Romanova) (In Russian Великая Княжна Татьяна Николаевна) Tanya, Tatya or Tanushka (May 29 (O.S.)/June 10 (N.S.), 1897 - July 17, 1918) was the second daughter of Nicholas II of Russia and Alexandra Fyodorovna of Hesse.
She was one of the elder sisters of Grand Duchess Maria of Russia, Grand Duchess Anastasia of Russia and Tsarevich Alexei of Russia.
Her godparents were Grand Duke George Alexandrovich of Russia, The King of Denmark, Grand Duke Mikhail Nikolaievich of Russia, The Duke of York, The Dowager Empress of Russia, The Duchess of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, Grand Duchess Xenia Alexandrovna of Russia, and Princess Victoria of Battenberg.

She was a younger sister of Grand Duchess Olga, Grand Duchess Tatiana and Grand Duchess Maria, and was an elder sister of Alexei Nikolaievitch, Tsarevitch of Russia.
After the Bolsheviks seized majority control of Russia, she and her family were moved to Yekaterinburg where they are presumed to have been executed by firing squad in the early morning of July 17, 1918.

His paternal grandparents were Alexander II of Russia and his first wife Marie of Hesse and by Rhine.
The best source material, both archival from Russia and elsewhere, seems to indicate that on June 12, 1918 Michael was ordered by a group of men to get out of the hotel in Perm where he lived.
