		The Tau are another interstellar society that manages to combat all its threats and thrive, without nearly as much of the draconian oppressiveness and extreme brutality of the Imperium's regime and thus a manner of emphasizing how far the Imperium has fallen from a modern viewpoint.
		The Tau characters in the novel also contrast with the brutish, militant humans with their, calm, patient and quiet personalities which expose philosophies similar to the real-world religion that is a homonym of their name: Taoism.
