 Taur Information
Taurs often appear in sexual contexts, where they may be depicted with either one or two sets of (i.e., centaur-like) or like the lower half's animal; if a second set exists, it is usually between the front legs and more human-like or like the upper half's animal.
While the upper half of a centaur is generally human, in furry the upper half of a taur is an anthropomorphized version of the animal lower half.
Though the Greek word kentauros is said to be composed of a single morpheme—perhaps not a Greek one in its origin—the element -taur has been separated (perhaps with influence from "minotaur", another hybrid creature albeit dissimilar in form) in the late 20th century to create a generalized form, "taur".

SPSW - The Return of the King - [spoilers]
Im sure it was in the film, after Frodo offered her the ring.
I'm not at all putting down your skill, but he's a very formidable opponent when he applies himself.
I don't think it a good idea; I wouldn't want you to leave, and I'm not entirely confident that Velour would lose.

Shores of Valinor - I wonder
All im sure of is that the leader was named "The Witch-King of Angmar" Does anyone know who the rest were?
The Dwarves, they had 7 rings if im not mistaken, what happened to them?
I'm not 100% sure this can be verified, but I stumbled upon some fascinating info on each of the Nine's origins.

Im not sure if they ever crossed the Withywindle but they did cross the midgewater marches
I'm afraid that in my part of the world we don't have moats, fossae, dikes, etc. so they're a 'foreign' concept to me. And I haven't travelled enough, obviously.
And I'm embarrassed that I missed the ride with Farmer Maggot and Bombadil guiding them back to the Road.

"I'm not giving you the chance to eat my lunch as well as your own!" He offered his cousin a stubborn smile.
"I'm still not convinced about these Trolls you make tales about, though, Bilbo, sir," added Pippin, screwing his face up in a doubtful scowl, "but I'll let you go on the dragons...
I hope Frodo and Merry are back by then, but I'm sure they will be.

The Barrow-Downs Discussion Forum - Battles of Beleriand
As for numbers I'm afraid we're even more in the dark than in the Third Age battles, orcs - lots, elves - fewer, must be the closest we can come.
I'm poor at figuring out how to send them, may get around to doing so.
Millions might be a stretch but I think somewhere in the area of maybe one million (maybe a little more) for a total elven population in Beleriand is reasonable (including all kindreds and realms).

 Of Lomé Adonnen
Here lies the tales of Princess Lomé Adonnen, a dark she-elf that dwells in the forests of Taur-Im-Duinath.
She is the keeper of the histories and scrolls as all princesses of the Duinath are.
I am truly jealous of such a brilliant mind as his and such brilliant minds that put the films together.

 I Lam Arth
Presumably, the lenition of *Taur is caused by the grammatical function of the name as object - objects seem to be lenited to make them distinct from the subject of the sentence.
The underlying name *Taur is not attested separately as well - if this where ?Daur to start with, only lenition of Perhael (which is attested separately in SD:128) is to be explained.
For the moment, let us that the first name represents a lenited form of *Taur (noble one).

 Abandoning Middle Earth by Cirdan
Even the dark and gloomy forest of Taur-im- Duinath offered them little respite from the assaults of their foes, for werewolves, Wargs, demon cats, and other fell beats roamed the woods and sought them out.
Maglor and Elrond led the people as quickly as possible along the low hills of Ramdal, and then they made a dash south to Taur-im- Duinath, but even so, the going was slowed by those like Gimli, who had been tormented and maimed by Sauron.
Though they managed to break through the southwestern troops of Morgoth, they were continually pursued, for Morgoth knew them to be what remained of the resistance in Middle Earth and had chosen this time to complete his conquest.

 In Feanor's Footsteps
The point I'm beating to death is that Tolkien reused elements of the earlier stories in new ways, but the old ideas are still quite identifiable.
Even the Anglo-Saxons did not vanish completely from the tradition when Tolkien began to develop the Middle-earth we know and love.
