The prostitution ring was uncovered after some of the girls ran away from their workplace and took refuge at the Consulate of Indonesia in Tawau two weeks ago.
Antara reported that one of the girls, who is 17, said she was initially offered by Suwarno, whom she met in Surabaya, to work as a waitress in Kalimantan, and she would receive a high salary.
The girls, all under 20 years of age, said they were treated poorly by their employers, who also seized their belongings and banned them from walking outside their workplace.

People from Tawau too should take advantage of the close proximity to spend their weekends to repair their frayed and frazzled nerves from the pressures of work.

The flight gets in a 9 or 10 am or so to Tawau airport, which incidentally is midway between Tawau and Semporna.
Tawau airport to Semporna takes a little more than an hour with a minivan then there's some lost time gathering pax -from half to a full hour- the speedboat transfer then takes some 40mn.

The bumper crop saw a sudden 30 per cent jump in kernel harvest from September to October fuelled by some new output capacity from at least 200,000 extra hectares over the last three years.
It’s no surprise that a vast expanse of Sabah’s lands had been cleared for this mono crop amounting to one 900,000 to a million hectres which is contributing to between 25 to 30 per cent of the national palm oil output.
