  Taygetos
Taygetos, one of the largest Greek mountains is 2407 m high and 40 km long.
The high peaks of Taygetos, such as Profitis Εlias, Xerovouna, Neraidovouna, Zitali and others are usually covered with snow and the alpine zone is located on this height.
Taygetos has rich flora and fauna but unfortunately in spite of many efforts it is still not a national reservation as it should be.

 Mystra The castle
The tower formed part of the fortification system of the castle and also served as a look-out post whence the movements of the population dwelling on the slopes of Taygetos could be observed.
Both from this side of the hill and from the one overlooking Taygetos the rocky eminence of Mystra rises sheer from the revine below and is thus rendered impregnable at this point.

On our 7th day we crossed the Taygetos via Saidona and Exochori, two small mountain villages in the Taygetos.
The area of the wall lizards starts at about an elevation of 800 m and reaches the top of the Taygetos.
Finally we found a road which led us to the east side of the Taygetos, where we made a last stop before our obligatory beer break.

 My Trip To Greece & Turkey
Now that I could see how life in the Peloponnese contrasted with living in the U.S.A., I appreciated the cultural and technological leap Greek emigrants had to make when coming to America at the turn of the century.
As we passed the groves of olive trees lining the road out of town, I wanted to break my schedule and turned back, but the view of the Taygetos mountains in the distance made me realize there was still much more to see ahead.
I enjoyed the particular style of music playing in the Taygetos Mountains, but because the announcer spoke in Greek, I couldn't tell what the name of the tune was or who sang it.
