To add to the enterprenurial spirit of Joe Murphy he placed ads in the local newspapers which communicated the Tayto range, Plain Golden, Cheese, Onion and Cheese and Onion flavoured crisps.
In 1954 Tayto sold 347 packs per day.
Thanks to all the loyal Tayto consumers from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and today, Tayto remains Irelands favourite crisp.

The makers of Tayto crisps were last night at the centre of a probe into the dumping of allegedly "foul-smelling" waste.
A spokesman for the world-famous snack company last night stressed that no chemicals were used in their processes and Tayto officials offered to meet with residents who complained to discuss the processes used by the company.
"Tayto NI Ltd owns a small parcel of farmland on the Derryhale Road in Portadown which is used to disperse washed soil reclaimed from potatoes before they are peeled," the spokesman said.

Tayto managing director John Keogh told Checkoutthat — despite the move from Coolock to Largo’s production facility in Ashbourne, Co. Meath — the company would maintain its relationship with the retail trade, both from a pricing and distribution point of view.
Tayto announced last month that — from October on — production at the company’s plant in Coolock would cease, with production of all Tayto products now transferring to Largo Foods.
Tayto closed its manufacturing plant in Terenure two years ago (transferring production of a number of products to Largo in the process), however Checkout understands that Irish cooking facilities are still operating undercapacity, and it looks extremely unlikely that any prospective buyer for the Coolock facility will retain it as a crisp-cooking plant.

Tayto castle makes their own flavour cheese and onion and other flavours are shipped in from different countries.
After our tour we were given 3 free bags of crisps and allowed to buy souvenirs to take home but most of the pupils bought a badge which they put onto their blazer.
As we were going on a trip to Tayto Castle we had to be in school for our usual time 9.10am and get our marks, then go straight to Mrs.Mckee’s room along with Mrs.Harpers smaller class for a head count.

The tale of two Taytos began 50 years ago when John “Spud” Murphy sold the licence for the crisp brand in Northern Ireland for £250 to the Hutchinson family from Tandragee, Co Armagh.
Tayto has also hosted the international O’Hanlon clan gathering at the castle, and produces a similarly titled crisp brand for export to the American market.

Besides, Tayto isn’t even Tayto anymore, since they were taken over by Largo, who make Perri crisps, and now Tayto too, in Ashbourne.
Tayto (remember when they were 3p a bag ?) than the proliferation of Coveney, Clune, Buttimer,Martin and Dennehy we get on each pole …and if i’s a tall pole they’ll throw Bertie on as well for good measure.

Tayto got his name cause he arrived his private castle called Drom Caoin in a Tayto-box and his fur had the colour of the original Irish Tayto crisps.
Tayto was around, whenever we worked the garden of Irland's best Bed and Breakfast throughout the whole west, Drom Caoin, that is. He loved to play with the ball, which kept us from pulling the weeds, but can you resist, if such a cute lad asks for a match?
It's always hard to loose a pet, but at least he was a loved and free dog with a great personality, that remains in my memory.

The Tayto crisps factory in Coolock in north Dublin is to close with the loss of 98 jobs.
Staff were told of the decision this afternoon and the company says meeting with unions have been arranged to discuss redundancy terms.
Tayto, which was acquired by CandC in 1999, will continue to employ 166 people in sales, marketing and product development.
