Popular Israeli TV series casts history in cold light
Already, the series has been sought after by teachers who want to use it to teach recent Israeli history -- a subject so sensitive that it is not taught in Israeli schools.
The series begins with a segment on the illegal immigration of European Holocaust survivors to what was then British Mandate Palestine in the years before the state of Israel was created in 1948.
The critics, most of whom sit on the political right, fume that the series is produced and directed by hard-leftists who are presenting a one-sided if not inaccurate account of history.

BBC - Comedy Guide - Chalk
A volatile mix of self-obsession, anger, hatred and fear, and with an ego the size of Jupiter, Eric Slatt is a true TV monster - hyperactive, homophobic and ruinously paranoid, his flaws are the catalyst to the school's problems, setting in motion a chain of outrageous events that results in his and its weekly downfall.
Chalk was a school sitcom for the 1990s, set in Galfast High, a characterless, concrete comprehensive populated by unruly pupils and staffed by weary, jaundiced teachers ranging from the mildly eccentric to the completely barmy.
The hype was such that Chalk nearly drowned in the stuff; yes, it was funny, and dark, and wild, but few series could have lived up to such trumpet-blowing.
