Terminology - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Terminology is a discipline whose object is the systematic study of the labelling or designating of concepts particular to one or more subject fields or domains of human activity, through research and analysis of terms in context, for the purpose of documenting and promoting correct usage.
Ad hoc terminology is prevalent in the translation profession, where a translation for a specific term (or group of terms) is required quickly to solve a particular translation problem.
As a discipline, terminology is related to translation alongside which it is often taught in universities and translation schools.

 Backgammon Terminology
A reasonable working definition of a technical play is a play in a position of which the general theme (game plan) is known, so finding the best move is more heavily dependent on calculation of shots, clearing points most safely etc., which best follows that known theme.
These 'technical' plays are distinct from their counterparts - 'positional plays', where the fundamental aspect of finding the best play is recognising what theme (game plan) should be followed.
Ultimately, the two basic types of play (technical and positional) are intertwined with each other at various levels, but it is convenient for bg literature to seperate the two for clarity/simplicity.

A second abuse of biblical terminology by pre-tribbers is their false and misleading usage of the word "Church." Their usage is governed by the dispensational parimeters they have erected.
The simple fact is, the wrong usage of terminology by pre-tribbers, and artificial distinctions in their jargon, are glaring indicators of a system that is being forced on the Scriptures.

Terminology, Technical   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-06)
The terminology of literary theory and criticism is at present far from satisfying either of these requirements.
It is not, like that of modern chemistry, a special nomenclature created originally for the purposes it serves, but simply lay vocabulary adapted for technical use.
Then, a large of part of it is inherited from a more or less remote past (mainly classical, esp. Greek, antiquity), and the vicissitudes of its often agitated transmission have modified and complicated its reference, and sometimes compromised its utility, more than we in practice recognize.
