The Government of Jamaica recently signed off on Phase II of the successful implementation of Markham-based Heron Technology Corporation's Patient Administration System now operational in 11 Government hospitals, for a total of 2,500 beds.
Jamaica's Permanent Secretary of Health, George Briggs, said, "It was really thrilling to learn all was finished and the system is on line at all locations.
Ron Hébert, Chairman of Heron Technology Corporation, said that the project is being undertaken with close attention to the health care budget of Jamaica because HTC's products and services are priced according to the GDP per capita of each country.

The Jamaica Tourist Board has promised to work as closely as possible with the section in staging the conference, also, the ministry of Industry, Commerce and Technology will also play a role in implementing the conference and has offered to sponsor a student competition.
The University of Technology, Jamaica and its IEEE student branch are responsible for making arrangements to host all the competitions.

The Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica (PCJ) is to build a 20-megawatt wind farm near Newport, Manchester, under partnership with a British company, Renewable Energy Sustems Limited, as the agency deepens its search for alternative energy sources.
Wright cited the project now on the drawing board, as an example of the strategic direction in which the industry was moving, that is, to seek out alliances with private investors in order to enhance Jamaica’s energy producing capacity, and reduce its reliance on expensive, imported oil.
The PCJ executive cited the partnership established in 1999 between a subsidiary, the Petrojam Refinery, and aviation fuel suppliers; Air BP, to refuel aircraft at the island’s international airports, as part of the effort to transfer technology to Jamaica.
