 Arlen Harold English
With Cab Calloway in mind for the song, Harold opened the song with what he calls a "front shout." In as little as half an hour, he and Koehler had completed their respective ends of the collaboration and, relieved to have one more tune out of the way, left the party to get a sandwich.
Arlen and Koehler took a year off during the twenty-third edition of the Cotton Club to spend a few weeks in Hollywood on their first film assignment entitled "Let's Fall in Love" (which was also the name of the hit song from the movie).
Unfortunately, when Harold went to California in 1933 with Ted Koehler for one month to work on songs for the screen play "Let's Fall in Love", his cross-country calls to Anya quickly added up.

Gangs of America: The Rise of Corporate Power and the Disabling of Democracy - Ted Nace
Surpassing even the state and the church, the corporation has become the core institution of the modern world, exercising might and muscle without regard to the often destructive effects on individuals, the environment, society, and the world.
In this compelling expose, noted entrepreneur and activist Ted Nace scrutinizes the legal framework of the corporation and untangles questions about how and why the corporation evolved as it did.
Nace traces the evolution of this institution through the behind-the-scenes figures who shaped it, including Thomas Scott, an obscure genius who invented the holding company; Stephen Field, the Supreme Court judge who developed corporate personhood rights; and many others.

One day when Arlen was tinkering at the piano, he wrote a tune of his own.
The blues-infused song he came up with was eventually matched with words by Ted Koehler to become "Get Happy," whose lyrics - "Shout Hallelujah, c'mon get happy/We're goin' to the Promised Land" - evoked the story of Exodus, which held special meaning for both Jews and fl Americans.
A show they scored in 1931 included the now-classic "Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea," and another in 1933 featured "Stormy Weather," sung by Ethel Waters to 12 encores.
