In 1981, Ted joined the faculty of the University of Calgary as a political science professor.
While at the University of Calgary, Morton was a part of a group of academics called the Calgary School whose teaching and writing exercised a very significant influence on the future of conservatism in Canada.
Morton was an early supporter of the Triple-E Senate Committee and a public critic of the Meech Lake (1987) and Charlottetown (1992) Accords.

Morton is reminding people that telling people they have to do something contrary to their beliefs or they must leave is a form of persecuting their beliefs.
Morton’s beliefs, the PC's may fracture as more "far right" conservatives move to new parties like the Alberta Alliance.  Do you think that is likely?  I sincerely value your opinion on the subject and look forward to a different perspective.
Morton had in mind, but if history has shown us anything, it is that legislation like this tends to produce loop holes in the system that do little more than undermine the laws they pertain too.

Ted Morton was elected to his first term as a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta for the constituency of Foothills-Rocky View on November 22, 2004.
Morton obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Colorado College in 1971, his Master of Arts in Political Science from the University of Toronto in 1975, and his PhD in Political Science from the University of Toronto in 1981.
Morton also served as director of policy and research, Office of the Leader of the Official Opposition, Parliament of Canada, in 2001.

Ted Morton is the guy, but watch for ballot box stuffing from the GOB's (good ol' boys) and PC members are really closet Ottawa Liberals and don't want to loose their porkies.
Morton's gonna be the guy I vote for today, because I have long memories of what the closet Liberals (note the large "L") in the Alberta Progressive Conservative party have done (or, more to the point, have not done) when confronted by their counterparts in Ottawa.
Ted is the man! Has great credetials, is awfully bright and has seen enough of the world to recognize Liberals in Tory clothing--get as many of your family and friends out to vote for him--I'd live to see this end after the first ballot.

Morton has some strength because he does not have to sway the majority of Albertans, only the majority of PC membership, and there are a LOT of social conservatives out there who want him, because he has shown that he is prepared to carry the social conservative agenda.
Ted has the best vison for Alberta of any of the Candidates...he thinks in decades in his planning where the others are stuck in the short term political expediency that dictates tinking in flashy substanceless 4 year bites...get elected forst then figure it out.
Let's hope Ted gets in or has influence on long term planning....otherwise Alberta will remain a boom town where you go to work and then leave when there is a down turn....another transient western province teetering on the brink of reliance on Ottawa welfare and all the disempowerment that entails.
