Wong actually began JKD in 1967 at Bruce Lee's third kwoon (training hall) in Las Angeles' Chinatown.
Wong trained with Bruce Lee toward the end of Lee's later stages of JKD development, basically becoming Lee's last major private student.
Ted Wong was also one of the primary people involved with demonstrating techniques in both the Bruce Lee's Fighting Method series of books co-authored by Bruce Lee and M. Uyehara, and the book Wing Chun Kung Fu, authored by the late James Lee, edited by Bruce Lee.

Ted Wong is my primary jeet kune do instructor and I teach original jeet kune do as taught from Bruce Lee to Ted Wong to myself.
I did receive a certificate of rank in jeet kune do directly from Ted Wong at a seminar in Tulsa, OK. I did not ask him what it meant and he didn't tell me what it meant.
The couple of times Sifu Wong has shown trapping at a seminar he makes it very clear that he is teaching it for "historical purposes only".

The only real fight he had in the US was with Wong Jak Man. I started this thread as a factual statement since there has been much discussion over Bruce’s fights.
Please don’t get me wrong, I’m the biggest fan of Bruce, JKD, Wing Chung and the Filipino MA, but the fact is that at the time of his fight with Wong Jak Man, Bruce was not the man or the MA he became.

I continued to promote the original art through publications and in 1993, along with Ted Wong and Howard Williams, presented the first Original JKD camp.
That same year I wrote an article for another magazine entitled, "Original JKD vs. the Concepts Method." Today there is much controversy over the original art and the newer concepts method.
Although Bruce Lee only certified Taky Kimura, James Lee (deceased), Danny Inosanto, and Ted Wong as instructors, many of his other students, who have had more than 20 years to develop, have reached a level that surpasses instructor level.
