The population of Teesdale is in the region of 25,000.
Teesdale - and particularly Barnard Castle - is currently making headway in attracting more visitors to the dale and thus creating opportunities and realising economic and regeneration outputs, ensuring a secure economic future for those who live and work in the dale.
However, it became apparent that although there are people in Teesdale with the skills and experience required, no-one is available to do this work in a voluntary capacity or in addition to their usual responsibilities.

Teesdale is a dale, or valley, of the east side of the Pennines in England.
It gives its name to the Teesdale district of County Durham, although the south side of Teesdale is traditionally part of the North Riding of Yorkshire.
Formerly the Startforth Rural District, it was transferred to County Durham for administrative and ceremonial purposes on 1 April 1974, under the provisions of the Local Government Act 1972.

My 4th Great Grandparents, Robert Teesdale and Elisabeth Graham's date of marraige and dates of birth have not been determined at this point, however, I know through the 1841 and 1851 census records that Robert was born in Larkhall and Elizabeth was born in Dumfries.
One of thesons of this marraige was Robert William Teesdale Jr., born in 1872.

PUBLIC toilets in Teesdale look set to be saved from closure after opposition from parish councils.
The district council met with representatives from Butterknowle, Staindrop and Eggleston parish councils after proposing to close facilities in those locations.
