Tehiya - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Tehiya (Hebrew for "revival", תחיה), was a small right-wing Israeli political party which split from the Likud in response to the 1978 Camp David Treaty between Egypt and Israel, particularly to the surrender of the Sinai peninsula to Egypt, and the eviction of its Israeli residents.
In the eyes of many Tehiya was identified with the personality of Geula Cohen who founded and headed it throughout its existence, until 1992.
Tehiya was strongly affiliated with the extra-parliamentary movement of Gush Emunim, and included prominent members of the Jewish settlement in the West Bank and Gaza such as Hanan Porat (later to be a member of the Knesset for the National Religious Party and the National Union) and Elyakim Haetzni.

Tehiya (Renaissance--see Appendix B), an ultranationalist party, arose in 1979 in reaction to NRP and Likud support for the 1978 Camp David Accords and the 1979 Treaty of Peace Between Egypt and Israel.
The leaders and parliamentary representatives of Tehiya were Yuval Neeman, party chairman and former minister of science and technology in the Likud-led cabinet (1981-84); Geula Cohen, formerly of Herut; Rabbi Eliezer Waldman, head of the Kiryat Arba Yeshiva; Gershon Shafet; and Kiryat Arba's ultranationalist attorney Eliakim Haetzni.
Tehiya's platform advocated the eventual imposition of Israeli sovereignty over the West Bank and the Gaza Strip and the transfer of the Palestinian inhabitants of these territories to Arab countries.

The 1992 Knesset Elections Revisited: Implications for the Future
While 26 parties competed, many people hesitated to vote for the smaller ones in the end because of the higher threshold and the increased chance that their vote would be wasted, and thus only ten party lists passed the threshold.
One of the lessons of the 1992 campaign was that parties whose factions quarreled visibly lost, the voters apparently feeling that a party that was unable to keep peace and act respectably at home was not fit to govern.
The collapse of Tehiya, the quadrupling of Tzomet and the victory of Netanyahu in Likud may signal the emergence of a new right on the scene.

Chayil Party - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Chayil is one of several right-wing parties that have come and gone from Israeli politics since 1981.
The first of those factions was Geula Cohen's Tehiya ("Renaissance"), followed by Meir Kahane's Kach ("Thus") which was banned by its opponents in the Knesset, Rafael Eitan's Tzomet ("Junction"), and Benny Begin and Michael Kleiner's Herut ("Freedom") that was in the Knesset until 2003.
Chayil, in the tradition of its predecessor Kach, is different from Tehiya, Moledet and Tzomet or even Herut in that it places its platform in a context of religious obligation, whereas the others are secular parties built around military figures or pre-independence ideologues like Vladimir Jabotinsky.

Ne'eman founded Tehiya in 1979 to protest against Israel's peace treaty with Egypt, which entailed returning the Sinai peninsula.
It was a Pyrrhic victory: Tehiya was wiped out at the polls, and Ne'eman retired from politics.
