		Generally, a tehsil consists of a city or town that serves as its headquarters, possibly additional towns, and a number of villages.
		Outside the region, the word "county" is often used as an explanatory equivalent or translation of the term "tehsil".
		The villages of a tehsil are grouped into smaller clusters known as hobli.

	Rohtak
		Gohana and Kharkhoda-Mandothi tehsils were given to Raja Bagh Singh of Jind and Bhai Lal Singh of Kaithal as life jagirs.
		The villages Lohari, Patudha and Kheri Sultan in the south east corner of Jhajjar tehsil were given as a seprate Jagir to Mohmad Khan son and Nawab Nijabat Ali Khan.

	Introduction to Town Administration

		RAWALPINDI, March 5: The Rawalpindi Tehsil Assembly members on Tuesday unanimously boycotted the assembly session against the alleged non-cooperative attitude of the Tehsil municipal officer (TMO) and warned to present en masse resignations if he was not replaced immediately.
		Some of them lay down on the road, complaining that they were not given the respect they deserved as members of the Tehsil council by the bureaucracy.
		On the request of Tehsil Nazim Raja Hamid Nawaz and Naib Nazim Sajjad Khan, the members ended the blockade, but gathered in the lawn outside the Liaqat Hall for about two hours.

	Karak Tehsil budget approved -DAWN - National; October 31, 2001
		KARAK, Oct 30: The Tehsil Council of Karak on Tuesday passed a deficit budget of Rs 800,000 for 2001-2.
		The Naib Nazims of nine union councils of the Tehsil, while referring to the unanimous resolution adopted in the previous meeting to remove the district coordination officer, again demanded the immediate removal of the DCO.
		They said that the attitude of the DCO towards the elected representatives of the Tehsil could not be borne any longer.
