Teisco guitars imported into America with the the 'Teisco Del Ray' brand are renamed with a one or two letter prefix followed by a dash and then a three digit number.
The three Teisco amps known of were the Miny, the Amp-71R (purple with just a sprinkling of glitter) and the Teisco-88.

As the ’60s dawned, Teisco increasingly got caught up in the export market, and by the mid-’60s were major players in the low-end or beginner arena, with instruments sold primarily by mass merchandisers such as Sears and at discount department stores which were rapidly developing at the time.
Teisco guitars from most of the ’50s were clearly inspired by Gibson; presumably this was true from the very beginning.
Teisco’s design changes also no doubt had a lot to do with the emerging importance of the American export market which was just about to explode.

Teisco, also known as Teisco/Del Ray and Checkmate, was famous for making some of the cheapest and cheesiest guitars and amps ever.
The Teisco brand name was widely (and mindlessly) derided here in the UK because there's a major supermarket chain by the name of Tesco.
According to Teisco literature, the one shown here is model "C-1", which appears to be a model "C" (above) with the addition of the 1-octave bass section and the 4-way bass selector switch.

This instrument was un-badged, but was most likely made by Teisco, a Japanese instrument maker that sold guitars and instruments under such names as Silvertone and Kay.
The Japanese company Teisco was the king of these companies, selling guitars under such names as Teisco Del Ray, Beltone, Kingston, Silvertone, and Kimberly in the US, and Arbiter, Audition and Kay in Europe.

Teisco EB-120 -- This is almost identical to the bass guitar I just purchased, but mine is fl and branded "Ariel".
Teisco Telecaster copy -- Not as exciting as some, but I like this guitar for the swanky lines and nifty headstock.

Well, Silvertone was just a generic name Sears used on it musical gear they sold; many companies other than Danelectro made guitars called Silvertones.
This Silvertone was manufactured (possibly in the late '60s) by Teisco of Japan.
I saw an early '70s Teisco version for $250 recently.

I consider this period to be the most significant in the history of vintage electric guitar collecting for these low-end beauties.
The only other manufacturer of Silvertones during this period was the Japanese-based company, Teisco (or Teisco Del Ray as it was formerly called).
Teisco created some of the wildest designs for Silvertones, in my opinion.

I own a Teisco chassis which has 2 x NEC (Nippon Electronics Corporation) EL84's, 4 x 6AV6's (also NEC), and a (non-original) 5Y3 rectifier.
I have seen Teisco amps labeled with names such as 'Sears' and 'Northland', amongst others.
Although Teisco made amps such as the 'Check Mate', it seems that the earlier ones, such as your Beltone and mine, are more desirable.

They use to sell Teisco guitars at drug stores years ago, I didn't know they made a preamp, is there a model number on it?
I have other people looking for me also and they are receiving the same skepticism.
My bass player remembers his first guitar being a teisco a stereo guitar and suggested this may be related some how.

I saw this on e-bay and paid 25 bucks.Previous owner said he thought it was made by Teisco.It has the same type of chrome single PU's that Teisco or EKO or some other 60's guitar and looks has a strat shape,with lots of "cheesy" knobs and switches.Anyone out there know anything about "Global" ?
I don't think they were even Japanese, most likely Korean (back when Korea only built junk that Japan wouldn't touch).
Different models may have been made by different Asian sources, and Teisco, Samick, and Cort are all likely suspects.

I'm not much for anthologies, but this is probably the best (and cheapest!) little surf anthology on the market.
With three tunes by both Los Straitjackets and Laika and the Cosmonauts along with a couple from each of The Halibuts and Teisco Del Ray, the listener is in really good hands.
The cover does look a bit cheap, but the liner notes are actually useful with brief descriptions of each bands involved.
