Unlike the Ricks, with their neck-through-body construction and a hollow body that Pete likened to “balsa wood” or “cardboard,” the Telecaster, with its bolt-on neck and solid Alder slab body, could take multiple blows before breaking and be easily reconstructed for the next show.
The Telecaster likely left an impression on Pete, as he would return to the Fender Telecaster around 1980, acquiring a vintage 1952 Fender Telecaster for studio work — which he later called his favourite guitar.
And he used a 1952 Telecaster reissue on stage for the Psychoderelict shows in 1993 as well as solo shows in 1995 to the present.

 Fender Standard Telecaster | Sweetwater.com
In the beginning, there was the Telecaster and the single pickup Esquire.
Over the decades, Fender has made concessions to the changing musical styles and the needs of both novice and pro guitarists, which has led to an astonishing array of Telecasters with new colors, special finishes and upgraded electronics.
For the Standard Series Telecaster, Fender designed a new bridge block that's the best of the vintage and modern designs, along with six adjustable saddles.

The Esquire was re-introduced in January 1951 as a one pickup version of the Broadcaster (Telecaster), with a truss rod and brass bridge saddles (note I have seen a January 1951 Esquire that had *two* pickups, and the guitar appeared to be stock, but by February 1951, one pickup was the norm for the Esquire).
Finally in late-1971, the Telecaster Thinline was outfitted with a pair of Fender’s new humbucking pickups and it remained unchanged in the Fender line until it was discontinued in 1980.
This variant was made from late 1968 to early 1971 and said "Fender Telecaster" only on the peghead (as per regular solidbody Telecasters), the truss rod adjusted at the butt-end of the neck, and had a pearloid pickguard going from the neck pickup to the tone control.

The Fender Telecaster was first introduced in 1951 as the "Fender Broadcaster" however Gretsch owned rights to the name and Fender renamed the guitar the "Telecaster" or "Tele" as it is affectionately know as.
The Telecaster is a two pickup guitar with a bridge that allows great sustain and great treble tone.
Major changes to the Telecaster included the addition of a Rosewood fingerboard and 8 screw pick guard in 1959, In 1965 Fender added the large F Logo to the neck plate.

All Telecasters basically have the same features: single cutaway slab body, 2 chrome knobs, 3 position toggle switch, 3 paired adjustable bridge saddles, strings anchor thru body (except in late 1958 to 1959).
This variant was made from 1968 to 1971 and said "Fender Telecaster" only on the peghead (as per regular solidbody Telecasters), the truss rod adjusted at the butt-end of the neck, and had a pearloid pickguard going from the neck pickup to the tone control.
The original Telecaster Thinline was reissued by Fender of Japan in the early 1990's.

 Fender Telecaster
The original Telecaster has a narrow neck, yet one which is thick, this is a bad combination.
The key to the success of the Telecaster in manufacturing is that it was designed to be simple, made from cheap and readily available materials and by unskilled labor on an assembly line.
If the Telecaster did not have such historical significance, according to today's standards it would be considered a low quality, crude, almost juvenile instrument.

The Telecaster, or Tele, was originally produced in April of 1950 and was called the Esquire.
There were two models, one with just a single pickup, and the other with a pickup at the neck and a pickup at the bridge.
