The agreement between AAPT and Alcatel in Australia, valued at US$36 million follows the signing of a similar agreement last week (June 20) between Telecom New Zealand and Alcatel in New Zealand, valued at US$70 million.
Telecom and Alcatel have a strategic partnering relationship to jointly manage the development and integration of Telecom's trans-Tasman Next Generation Network.
The agreements involve the transfer of approximately 100 staff from Telecom's AAPT operation to Alcatel in Australia and almost 200 Telecom New Zealand staff to Alcatel in New Zealand from July 1 2003.
