In photography and cinematography, a telephoto lens is a lens where the focal length is significantly longer than the focal length of a normal lens.
Telephoto lenses also have less depth of field than shorter lenses.
Strictly speaking, telephoto lenses must contain a telephoto group, which allows the lens to be physically shorter than its focal length.

Photographic lens - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The lens may usually be focused by adjusting the distance from the lens assembly to the image-forming surface, or by moving elements within the lens assembly.
The maximum usable aperture of a lens is usually specified, as the focal ratio or f-number, the focal length divided by the actual aperture in the same units.
An extreme wideangle lens of large aperture must be of very complex construction to correct for optical aberrations, which are worse at the edge of the field and when the edge of a large lens is used for image-forming.

Telephoto lens - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In photography and cinematography, a telephoto lens is a lens whose focal length is significantly longer than the focal length of a normal lens.
For a 35 mm camera with a 36 mm x 24 mm format (43.3 mm diagonal), the normal lens is 50 mm and a lens of focal length 70 mm or more is considered telephoto.

In a varifocal zoom lens the focal length is varied by moving the lenses, but the camera must be refocused.
The telephoto lens is shown mounted on a single lens reflex camera.
In a true zoom lens, more elements are used and their positions are changed so that the image on the film remains in focus.

The Tamron lens hood is designed as an integral part of the optics to provide the maximum shading for each lens.
This is the case even for those made for a zoom lens, where the wide-end of the focal length range inevitably becomes the benchmark for the optical design.

 Telephoto
A good telephoto lens is an essential part of any nature photographer's kit, and learning how to use one is an important skill.
A telephoto can be hand-held if the reciprocal of the exposure is greater than the focal length of the lens.
For instance, if you are using a 400mm lens your shutter speed should be greater that 1/400 of a second, 1/100 of a second for a 100mm lens.

In addition, one final fact is when you are on wide angle you are at 1X and when you go to full zoom on a newer camcorder that is 20X and you have increased 20X in magnification.
Overall, if you need a telephoto lens that has more zoom than a 2X this is your best bet and seems to be the strongest available for camcorders and has a reasonable price.
