Tembec Inc. plans to close four paper and lumber mills in Quebec and Ontario, a move that will throw 459 people out of work.
Tembec said these closures are necessary because of the stronger Canadian dollar and other unspecified issues affecting the mills' competitiveness.
Tembec said that during the last 12 months, the facilities being closed generated sales of $112.7 million, but reported a loss before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization of $14.7 million.
