		The fiscal crisis of the Tembisa Council and the direct relations between capital and community attempted in Soweto are rather two sides of the same phenomenon: in both cases the redefinition of the role of the local authorities facilitates a disguised form of privatisation in accordance with neoliberal state-sponsored developmentalism.
		In fact, in Tembisa it was precisely the failure of welfare arrangements to make resources available for negotiations first, and the total alignment of the state at central and local level with a free-market approach then, that deprived a socialdemocratic solution to this issue of its substance.

		Tembisa was one of the horrible townships with four creches, 28 primary schools, ten secondary schools, and we had a total formal houses, that is 20,000 formal houses and rented were 9,000.
		But I have recommended that Tembisa should dedicate a day where all victims and also because of this process that even perpetrators should be invited, where everybody that they will release all the frustration, all the pains that he went through, and that day should be celebrated yearly by the people of Tembisa.

	CS Holdings establishes community education partnership in Tembisa
		Rembuluwani Magosha, principal of the Tembisa Adult Education Centre, says that he had been given a mandate from the Department of Education to seek out partnerships with the private sector.

		Police, arriving on the scene to try to control the swelling crowd, used tear gas and fired warning shots from riot guns loaded with rubber bullets over the heads of those in the station.

		At this stage, it is not clear what caused the stampede, but according to media reports, the victims were crushed to death when sections of a crowd of commuters surged forward to board their train after being held up by security guards employed by the Metrorail company to examine tickets.
		Particular attention should be given to allegations of heavyhandedness and unneccessary force applied by the security guards in the execution of their duties.
		It is understood that a large crowd had gathered at the station baying for the blood of the security guards.

	Cop swoop nets 100 in Tembisa
		Superintendent Eugene Opperman said four of the arrests were for cash-in-transit related robberies, 14 people were held on armed robbery charges, six were held for serious assault, 10 for having stolen property and five for the illegal possession of firearms.
		Sixteen stolen cars were recovered and eight illegal firearms seized during the special operation which was held apart from normal policing activities.
		The operation was done with the help of Tembisa residents, he said.
