Temminck's Lark - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Temminck’s Lark or Temminck’s Horned Lark (Eremophila bilopha), breeds across much of north Africa, through northern Arabia to western Iraq.
Unlike most other larks, Temminck’s Lark is a distinctive looking species on the ground, similar to the other, larger, member of its genus, the Shore Lark.
Adult Temminck’s Lark differs from Shore Lark in its reddish, rather than brown-grey plumage, and the lack of yellow in the face pattern.

 Temminck's Tragopan, Tragopan temmincki
Temminck's are found in thick mountain forests in these regions in several different habitats but always where undergrowth in the form of bamboo thickets or rhododendron brakes are present.
Temminck's are solitary as a rule and are highly arboreal for pheasants.
Temminck's chicks seem to mature rather slowly in comparison to the chicks of many other pheasant species, so they should be provided with a quality diet complete with all of the vitamins, minerals, and nutrients essential to proper development.

 Eductaief
Consciously or unconsciously Temminck tragopans have been coupled to Satyr tragopans and with that the wrong steps have been done.
Their eggs are orange/brown, are shorter and rounder then a Temmincks egg.
The orange under his throat is typical for a Temminck, but too light for a Satyr.

Temminck's Tragopan   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-07)
The female Temminck's tragopan has feathers in a dull mixture of fl, brown, and gray which they use as camouflage while the male tragopan is much more extravagant.
The males have brownish red plumage that have ocelli underneath and large eyespots that are surrounded by fl borders.
Unlike most of their pheasant relatives, the Temminck's tragopan prefers to nest in trees and can be found living at altitudes between 3,000 and 12,000 ft.

Asiatic Golden Cat   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-07)
Wozencraft, in his controversial1993 reassessment of cat taxonomy, considers Temminck’s golden cat to be in the genus Catopuma, along with the Bornean bay cat which is said to be an island version of Temminck’s cat (Wozencraft 1993).
This may indicate that Temminck’s cats have a tendency to be sociable, and the male to stay with the female.
It has been reported that Temminck’s cats are able to have two litters in one year.

TEMMINCK and LAUGIER DE The work was authored by Coenraad Joseph TEMMINCK and Baron Guillaume Michel Jerome Mieffren LAUGIER DE CHARTROUSE and illustrated by Jean Gabriel PRETRE and Nicolas HUET.
the driving force behind it was almost certainly Temminck, who, as well as being wealthy collector of exotic birds and very well-connected, was already a noted scholar, and one of the most important naturalist's of his time.
Coenraad Temminck (1778-1858) was the son of Jacob Temminck (also a noted naturalist for whom Le Vaillant collected specimens), and was one of the earliest ornithologists to study individual bird species/families in detail.

Temminck's Horned Lark - the most southerly record ever ?   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-07)
Such an amazing and unexpected record caused a great deal of pleasure and excitement amongst the group, which included a local guide, though after an hour of watching the bird we left and to our knowledge it was not seen subsequently.
The range of Temminck's Horned Lark is described in Birds of Africa (Academic Press) as NW and N Africa, Sinai, Jordan, Syria, W Iraq, N and NE Saudi Arabia and as accidental in Lebanon and Malta.
Note the lovely warm pinky-sand coloured upperparts, the lack of yellow on the face (present in the Atlas race of Shore Lark), and the strong facial markings, which make Temminck's Horned Lark unmistakeable.
