As television came to the forefront of American entertainment and information, CBS dominated television as it once had radio.
When CBS bought Los Angeles station KNX in 1936 for a west-coast production headquarters, it was at Frank Stanton's instigation that architect William Pereira was hired to create a distinctive, modern broadcasting center on Sunset Boulevard.
This was the making of the Ball-Arnaz Desilu empire, and became the template for series production to this day.
