| | Temple Lot |
 | | In 1864, this group of Saints in Woodford County, Illinois, received a revelation directing them to dispose of their properties and go to Independence, Missouri, and the way would be opened up for them to purchase the property that had been dedicated as the place where the Temple was to stand. |
 | | They purchased lots 15, 17, 18, 19, and 22, in the Woodson Maxwell addition to Independence for the sum of $425.00, and a little later they purchased lots 16, 20, and 21 for $750.00. |
 | | In the center, o near the center of the square thus formed by these lots, is the "spot " where the Temple was to stand. |
