		With the recent rash of films revolving around, starring and targeted at teenagers, the consensus of those over the age of 25 has been to avoid them; their plots have been weak and the acting performance worthy of late night television.
		Noticeably lacking WB stars, 10 Things is the rare teen film more interested in telling a story (a reshaping of William Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew) and developing relationships between characters than of satisfying the desires of the teen demographic group.
		Totally devoid of teenage self-pity and angst, 10 Things was one of the most enjoyable teen films of the '90's.

		However, from then on "10 Things I Hate About You" reminds you more of a standard Hollywood teen flick where two people who hate each other fall in love rather than Shakespeare--not that there is anything wrote with that.

		Teach a bit about the time-period so they can identify the references (Elizabethan and Jacobean court politics are like soap operas anyway) and the period slang so they get the in-jokes and the wordplay.
		I've read essays about this subject from time to time over the years, and every one of them seems to get around to dismissing Shakespeare as the author purely based on his more "common" background versus the "nobility" of others, just as Holland claims.
		But what amazes me about people is that, even though they are complexity itself, they usually choose to think that the world is a simple place.
