Mario Tennis (Game Boy Color) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This game utilises the Transfer Pak to transfer data to and from the N64 game.
The RPG mode is not featured in the N64 title, but a similar game mode appears in Mario Golf on the Game Boy Color.
The RPG feature received acclaim from critics; the game was given 9 out of 10 on IGN, an unusually high score for a Game Boy Color game.

 GameSpy:
Nintendo's portable game system, the Game Boy, debuted in 1989, and by 1990 people were already predicting its demise.
Game Boy's sound chip allowed it to produce excellent (for the time) stereo music and sound effects, which could be enoyed in privacy thanks to the inclusion of stereo headphones.
The $109 Game Boy debuted in late 1989 with five titles to choose from, Super Mario Land, Baseball, Alleyway, Tennis, and the pack-in game, Tetris.

 IGN: Tennis Preview
The game was playable in the arcades a couple years before in the double-monitor "Vs." units where two players could challenge each other, each person on one side of the machine.
The NES game features singles and doubles options...but for the GBA, the game's doubles mode is disabled, since the original NES game required two players on the same team to take advantage of this feature.
Because the game sits resident in the Game Boy Advance memory, if players turn off the system, the game's wiped out from the system; players will have to re-download the game to the system to play it on the GBA again.

The game's audio effects are equally impressive during matches, with the announcer signalling faults and points properly, but the presentation suffers outside of gameplay.
The game's basic mechanics are similar to those in Sega's Virtua Tennis; exact placement of the player and timing for striking the ball aren't necessary.
In an actual game of tennis, strategy plays a huge factor; how to counter an opponent's serve, where to hit the ball so as to throw the other player off balance, these are both factors in a game that has several nuances.

Mario Tennis: Power Tour is, once again, a tale of two kids chasing their tennis dreams, with Mario and crew waiting for them at the top.
Instead, what they've done is build upon the earlier Mario Tennis Game Boy Color game by upgrading the graphics and audio, expanding the single-player role-playing mode, increasing the selection of characters and minigames, and, to top it all off, incorporating gameplay aspects that were recently introduced in Mario Power Tennis for the GameCube.

WTA Tour Tennis Review for Game Boy Advance - Gaming Age
Konami is the first to take the tennis dip on the Game Boy Advance, enlisting the help of the WTA to craft a half decent portable tennis title that takes itself seriously enough to be considered a simulation, but obviously aiming to a slightly younger demographic with its cartoonish depiction of the sport.
Konami obviously didn’t have taking advantage of the GBA hardware in mind when they were developing WTA Tour Tennis; as while the visuals are more than adequate, the only reason they look improved over anything the Game Boy Color could handle is because of an increased color palette.
The overall look of the game is acceptable, though, with the most lacking areas falling under the tennis courts that look exactly the same, no matter what country you select to be in.

Silicon Fusion >> News >> First screens of Virtua Tennis on Game Boy Advance
With the Virtua Tennis series already being a hit on the Dreamcast and recently making the leap to PlayStation 2, Sega are hoping to generate a similar level of success with a Game Boy Advance version, which is set to hit European shores later this year.
The game's simplistic control system should suit the handheld particularly well, and a pseudo-3D engine is being used to retain the 'behind the player' viewpoint of the original titles.
Unfortunately, we have little information on the game modes that will exist in the handheld version, but these first screenshots hint that some of the mini-games from the Dreamcast and PS2 versions are being ported, which hopefully means that the handheld version will contain the excellent World Tour mode from the original titles.
