It was redesignated Tenth Air Force on 1 December 1985.
Tenth Air Force was functionally transferred to NAS JRB Fort Worth, TX, during the summer of 1996.

SOUTH PACIFIC (Thirteenth Air Force) In the Solomons, B-17s, escorted by P-38s and P-40s, bomb the runway and revetments at Munda.
CBI (Tenth Air Force) In Burma, five B-25s of the India Air Task Force bomb the bridge (which the enemy is striving to rebuild) at Myitnge.

 Army Air Forces in World War II
(Fourteenth Air Force): HQ 308th Bombardment Group (Heavy) and it's 373d, 374th, 375th and 425th Bombardment Squadrons (Heavy) with B-24's arrive in China from the U.S. The 308th and 425th are based at Kunming; the 373d at Yangkai; and the 374th and 375th at Chengkung.
Northwest African Tactical Air Force (NATAF) fighters and light and medium bombers bomb a fuel dump at Oudref, roads and a railway near Cekhira, docks at Sfax, and the airfield at Djebel Tebaga.
The air echelons of the 414th and 415th Night Fighter Squadrons, AAF School of Applied Tactics arrive in England from the U.S.; the ground echelons are enroute to Algeria.

Following World War II this air force was involved in air defense and reserve training and concentrated entirely upon air defense in the latter 1960s and again after 1985.
Neither the Air Field Forces nor the Air Force, Alaskan Defense Command, were legitimate War Department establishments and must be classified in the same category as provisional units, although the term "provisional" was never used in connection with them.
The new air force drew its operational forces from existing air forces in the European and Mediterranean theaters and commenced combat operations the day after it was formed.

 Fourteenth Air Force - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Fourteenth Air Force operated in the China-Burma-India (CBI) theater during World War II as the Flying Tigers and subsequently served Air Defense Command, Continental Air Command, and the Air Force Reserves (AFRES).
The Fourteenth Air Force was constituted on 5 March 1943 and activated in China on 10 March.
After the China Air Task Force was discontinued, the Fourteenth Air Force (14 AF) was established by the special order of President Roosevelt on 10 March 1943.

In July and August of 1943 a considerable part of the Squadron's ground personnel served with a training unit of the Air Transport Command at Gaya, while the Squadron itself continued to operate successfully through the monsoon season with only a skeleton ground force serving the combat men.
The Ringer outfit was probably the first squadron of any type in the CBI theater to use all sixteen of its aircraft on a single mission and was frequently commended by the Tenth Air Force officials for its high standard of aircraft maintenance.
Plans to transfer the Squadron to China and the Fourteenth Air Force, late in 1943, caused both the 491st and the 22nd to be ordered to cut back to "skeleton" squadrons.
