  Codon, Terminator
Termination of translation in eukaryotes is governed by two interacting polypeptide chain release factors, eRF1 and eRF3.
We found this explanation to be unlikely because PTCs only 8 or 10 nt upstream of a terminal intron down-regulated mRNA levels, even though this distance is too short to permit PTC recognition in the cytoplasm prior to the splicing of the downstream intron in the nucleus.
A genetic analysis of other alleles proposed to be involved in nonsense-mediated mRNA decay revealed that the UPF2 gene is allelic to the previously identified sua1 allele, a suppressor of an out-of-frame ATG insertion shown previously to reduce translational initiation from the normal ATG of the CYC1 gene.

Genetics is the science of genes, heredity, and the variation of organisms, as well as the medical practice of diagnosing, treating, and counseling patients with genetic disorders.
Humans began applying knowledge of genetics in prehistory with the domestication and breeding of plants and animals.
Within organisms, genetic information generally is carried in chromosomes, where it is represented in the chemical structure of particular DNA molecules.

In genetics, a 'terminator', or 'transcription terminator' is a section of genetic sequence that marks the end of a gene or operon on the DNA for transcription.
Terminator sequences are distinct from termination codons that occur in the mRNA and are the stopping signal for translation, which may also be called nonsense codons.
A 'transcription terminator' must also be distinguished from dye terminator sequencing, which is a method of sequencing DNA.

Terminator searches for prokaryotic factor-independent RNA polymerase terminators according to the method of Brendel and Trifonov.
Terminator uses a table of the dinucleotide frequencies for each position from a set of known terminators to find places in a new sequence where terminator-like sequences occur.
The default primary structure threshold is such that about 95 percent of known factor-independent, prokaryotic terminators should be found by Terminator in a set of terminator-like sequences, based on primary structure alone.
