  The distribution and phylogeny...
Al accumulation mainly characterises the families Diapensiaceae, Pentaphylacaceae, Symplocaceae, Ternstroemiaceae, and Theaceae.
Al accumulation is consistently present or absent in most families examined, but the character appears to be more variable in a few taxa (e.g., Lecythidaceae, Myrsinaceae).
The association of different mycorrhizae types with plant roots is suggested to play a role in the exclusion of high Al levels from the shoot.

Studies of Eurya (Ternstroemiaceae) in Taiwan (1), a new endemic species, Eurya septata
Ternstroemiaceae, traditionally treated as Ternstroemioideae in Theaceae (Keng, 1962; Cronquist, 1988; Dahlgren, 1989; Thorne, 1992; Takhatajan, 1997), were recently recognized as an independent family on the basis of large-scale DNA cladograms (APG, 1998; Judd et al., 1999; Prince and Park, 2001; Anderberg et al., 2002).
In these cladograms, Ternstroemioideae and Camellioideae, the two subfamilies of Theaceae, always form two separate clades and have no sister relationships (APG, 1998; Savolainen et al., 2000; Soltis et al., 2000; Anderberg et al., 2002).

In an attempt to understand the interspecies relationships and the major phytogeographical events of the 14 Eurya species in Taiwan, 115 samples from 33 Eurya species, including all the Eurya species occurring in Taiwan and samples from the Ryukyus, continental China, and Southeast Asia, were sequenced at the nuclear ITS region.
Species of five other genera of Ternstroemiaceae were also incorporated.

Terns have long, pointer wings and a forked tail giving rise to their alternative name of the sea-swallow.
Ternstroemiaceae is a natural order of polypetalous dicotyledonous plants consisting of trees or shrubs with alternate simple usually coriacerous leaves without stipules.
The flowers are generally white, arranged in axillary or terminal peduncles, articulated at the base.

 Theaceae Information
The Theaceae is part of order Ericales, in the branch of the dicots known as the Asterids.
Some botanists include the Theaceae within the family Ternstroemiaceae, or vice-versa.
Most of the genera are native to eastern Asia (Malesia north to Japan), with several genera in South America and Central America; two genera (Franklinia and Gordonia) also have species native to the southeastern United States, with Franklinia being endemic there.

CAMELLIA, a genus or subgenus of evergreen trees or shrubs belonging to the natural order Ternstroemiaceae, with thick dark shining leaves and handsome white or rose-coloured flowers.
The name Camellia was given by Linnaeus in honour of George Joseph Camellus or Kamel, a Moravian Jesuit who travelled in Asia and wrote an account of the plants of the Philippine Island, Luzon, which is included in the third volume of John Ray's Historia Plantarum (1704).

 Malvaceae Info: History of Classificaton
Genera Plantarum" (1789) Antonii Laurentii de Jussieu also divides the group into two families, the 14th (Malvaceæ) and 19th (Tiliaceae) orders of his 13th class.
His Malvaceæ incorporates Malvoideae, Bombacoideae, Helicteroideae, Dombeyoideae, Byttnerieae, Theobromateae and Sterculioideae, as well as a number of genera more recently placed in Theaceae or Ternstroemiaceae (Malachodendron, Gordonia) and Linaceae (Hugonia).
Three of these groups can be recognised as malavaceous, although in each case contaiing several other genera, some of which are distantly related.

The Ericales project aims at a better understanding of the phylogenetic interrelationships in the order Ericales.
Investigations based of molecular data have shown that this order comprise the families Marcgraviaceae, Tetrameristaceae, Pellicieraceae, Polemoniaceae, Fouquieriaceae, Theaceae, Ternstroemiaceae, Sladeniaceae, Pentaphylacaceae, Symplocaceae, Styracaceae, Diapensiaceae, Lecythidaceae (incl.
Theaceae are not monophyletic as Pentaphylacaceae is sister to Ternstroemiaceae, and the two genera Sladenia and Ficalhoa form a monophyletic group that is sister to Pentaphylacaceae and Ternstroemiaceae.

Porcupine! 28- Flora--It is time for ecologists to take notice of recent advances in plant phylogeny
The Euphorbiaceae has survived, but most of the local woody genera, including Antidesma, Aporosa, Bischofia, Bridelia, Glochidion and Phyllanthus, are now in a separate family Phyllanthaceae.
The Hamamelidaceae loses Altingia and Liquidambar to the Altingiaceae, the Caprifoliaceae loses Sambucus and Viburnum to the Adoxaceae, the Loganiaceae loses Buddleja to the Scrophulariaceae and Gelsemium to Gelsemiaceae, and the Theaceae loses Adinandra, Anneslea, Cleyera, Eurya and Ternstroemia to the Ternstroemiaceae.
As for the Scrophulariaceae, I do not have the space to explain all the changes.
