  Territorial Decoration - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Territorial Decoration (TD) is a United Kingdom military medal, also known as the Territorial Efficiency Decoration, which is given to officers for long service in the Territorial Army.
It is not to be confused with TEM (Territorial Efficiency Medal) which is awarded to soldiers.
The ribbon for the decoration is dark blue and green, with a central stripe of yellow.

 Territorial Decorations and Medals
The Territorial Force: On the disbandment of the Volunteer Force and the establishment of the Territorial Force in 1908 both the Decoration and the Medal were superseded.
The Territorial Decoration of 1908: The badge of the Decoration consists of an oval oak wreath in silver, tied with gold, and having in the centre the Royal Cypher, surmounted by the crown, both in gold.
The Territorial and Army Volunteer Reserve: In 1967, the name Territorial Army was changed to Territorial and Army Volunteer Reserve, the resultant change to both Decoration and Medal being that the initials on the suspender bar in both cases were changed to read 'T and AVR'.

Firstly.It is ordained that the Decoration shall be styled and designated "The Efficiency Decoration" and shall consist of an oak wreath in silver tied with gold, having in the centre the Royal Cypher and Crown in gold.
Secondly.It is ordained that the Decoration shall be worn suspended on the left breast from a silver bar-brooch by a green riband one inch and a half in width, with a yellow stripe down the centre.
All awards of the decoration shall be subject to the approval of the Governor-General, and the names of those officers upon whom he confers the decoration shall be published in Army Orders and a register of the awards shall be kept and maintained at Army Headquarters.

Forfeiture and Restoration—A recipient of the Decoration who suffers death by sentence of a Military Court, or is dismissed or removed from his Corps or regiment for misconduct shall forfeit the Decoration unless the Governor-General shall otherwise direct.

Several committees were appointed that were to propose awards for different levels of gallantry in battle, select layout for the decorations and decide on who of the several thousands of recommended soldiers would be entitled to a decoration.
It was not before January, 1970 that the Knesset passed the Law of Decorations in the Israel Defense Forces and a committee was instituted to define the layout and rules of granting the decorations.
Besides the above decorations and citations that were instituted by law in 1973, the Government of Israel instituted on April 26, 1981 a decoration called the Chief Of Staff Medal of Appreciation (Ot haaraha).

Major F. Watson was mobilized with his Territorial battalion in August 1914, in command of a company, proceeding to France in April 1915.
From August 1915 until March 1917 he was Staff Captain of an infantry brigade in France, being recalled on the latter date at the instance of the Ministry of Munitions for technical service.

Service is actually computed by a rather elaborate formula but, in general, active service during wartime or any other emergency condition counts double; it is unclear from the regulations how service which qualifies for the various long service medals relates to this award.

Having served aboard the Battleship, HMS Ramillies, and the Destroyer, HMS Witherington, he was bought out of his commission in 1920 by his parents, whereupon he relocated to India to take up farming and horse breeding, but two years later returned to England where he was employed at Lloyds Insurance Brokers in London.
In 1924 he joined the Territorial Army and the London Rifle Brigade at the rank of Lieutenant, and in 1928 was amongst the Guard of Honour to the future King George VI at the opening of the new Lloyds Building.
When the Second World War began, Gough was recalled from the Territorial Army Reserve of Officers and as a Captain rejoined the London Rifle Brigade, posted to H Company of the 2nd Battalion.

He resumed secretaryship of the Northern Territorial Force Associations in July 1919, and in 1920 was created K.B.E. JOINED the Gordons in May 1901, and went to France with them in October 1914.
In November 1912 he was promoted Lieutenant-Colonel on being given command of the brigade.On the outbreak of war he mobilized with his brigade, and remained in Bedford training till the Division was ordered to France in April 1915, when he took command of the Divisional Ammunition Column.
In 1905 he was transferred to the Aberdeen Companies, R.A.M.C. (V.).On the inauguration of the Territorial Force he was appointed Captain in the 1st Highland Field Ambulance, R.A.M.C. (T.), and shortly after mobilization in 1914 was posted to the 2nd Highland Field Ambulance.

On the 7th of December 1919 Fort was promoted to the rank of Major in the Royal Army Medical Corps and was assigned as the Medical Officer of the 10th Battalion, The Manchester Regiment.
He was awarded the Territorial Decoration in the 1920's and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Royal Army Medical Corps on the 31st of October 1929.
He retired from the Army in September of 1936.
