  Terry Gordy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Terry Gordy (April 23, 1961 - July 16, 2001) was a professional wrestler who was most famous for being a member of the Fabulous Freebirds.
Gordy and Williams came to WCW in 1992 and won the World Tag Team Titles and had a feud with Rick and Scott Steiner.
Gordy died of a heart attack on July 16, 2001 due to a blood clot.

A kneel kick to Gordy was the only move that Kawada did before tagging Tenryu that did any damage, and the point he hit it was the point he rolled over to the corner and tagged Tenryu.
Gordy came in and delivered a blockbuster (Samoan drop), so Kawada wound up tagging the first chance he got again, which was after he hit a lariat.
Hansen left Gordy in the ring to face Tenryu as he went outside to destroy Kawada's knee so Kawada could not be a factor in the rest of the match.

Gordy first met "Lord" Michael Hayes (as he was then billed) after leaving Mississippi in 1978, and the pair teamed in matches throughout the South.
Terry Gordy was the first non-Japanese wrestler to win the All Japan Triple Crown, defeating Jumbo Tsuruta on June 5, 1990 in Chiba, Japan.

Gordy's first matches were in 1975 at age 16 working for the Detroit territory, the IWA (the promotion that attempted to compete with the WWWF that featured Gino Brito, Dino Bravo, Mighty Igor, and Tex McKenzie), and a promotion competing with the Gulases in Tennessee.
Gordy worked for SMW in 1994 and 1995 (and briefly held the SMW Heavyweight Title in the last months of the promotion), but was clearly not the Terry Gordy of old.

Terry competed on his first tour of Japan in the summer of 1970, teaming with his brother Dory against Shohei "Giant" Baba and Antonio Inoki in a series of matches for the Japanese Pro Wrestling Alliance.

Michael loved being "in the ring" as a wrestler, but his true talent was his being "the manager" (at least in my view.) So we got Buddy Roberts to be Terry's partner in the ring, with Michael managing, and the team was born.
But to die so young, is certainly questionable as to it not being the result of a history of self-abuse, and substance abuse-------starting with alcohol, which we all abused ourselves.
Terry, as gifted as he was in the ring, had so little personal discipline.
