Terry Griffiths - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Terry Griffiths (born October 16, 1947) is a retired Welsh snooker player.
A former postman, Griffiths had a long amateur career, winning the Welsh Amateur Championship in 1975 and the English Amateur Championship in 1977 and 1978 before turning professional.
Griffiths retired from professional play in 1996, and is now coach to Marco Fu, Stephen Hendry and, until recently, Mark Williams.

 Where are they now...?
Terry turned professional in 1978 after a very successful amateur career, although his start in the paid ranks was less than auspicious.
When I first saw Terry play, his game was not slow, however as the '79 Championship progressed, it became obvious that he was enjoying the tactical side of the sport, particularly in his semi-final match against Australian Eddie Charlton.
Nowadays Terry is found at most tournaments in a coaching capacity, most notable beneficiaries of his skills are Stephen Hendry and Mark Williams and both seem to be gaining from his experience.

 The Global Snooker Centre
However the story of the club really began way back in 1961, when a traditional, back street temperance hall attracted a wide eyed 14 year old boy through its doors; its inimitable atmosphere capturing the imagination: with the personalities, players, matches and leagues and all their attendant dramas, tears and glories.
Terry progressed from that early start, through an Amateur career in the Llanelli League and then on to become a Welsh International; ultimately turning professional in 1978, and winning his historic World Championship in 1979 at his first attempt.
Terry's ambition was to open his own snooker club: to provide the highest playing conditions possible, both for its members and as a venue for local tournaments and to give something back to the game and his hometown, from which he derived so much.

Minder is a comedy/drama revolving round the exploits of Arthur Daley (George Cole) - a 'businessman' trading in goods of a rather questionable origin - and his 'Minder'(bodyguard) ex-boxer Terry McCann (Dennis Waterman).
Although the series made a rather unpromising start - first delayed by the 1979 ITV strike (see History), then receiving a luke-warm response from the viewers - it was destined to become one of Euston Film's most popular series.
By this time of course Minder had become, what Arthur Daley might call, 'A Nice Little Earner' for both Euston (it was sold to over twenty six countries), and it's two stars (they were reported as being the highest-paid actors in Britain).
