The Meatmen - Tesco Vee - Bio
Tesco Vee - The Very Name Strikes Fear in the Hearts of God Fearing Fucks All Over the World.
It was this tour that inspired Tesco to move to DC to escape Michigans' bogus economy.
Undaunted Vee set out to put together the best Meatmen he could as they headed off in heavier directions with 1985's War of The Superbikes, a deal that to this day the band looks back on in ANGER.

Tesco was founded by Jack Cohen, who sold groceries in the markets of the London East End from 1919.
The Tesco brand first appeared in 1924 after Jack Cohen bought a large shipment of tea from ''T.E. Stockwell'' and made new labels by using the first three letters of the supplier's name and the first two letters of his surname forming the word "TESCO".
Tesco operates supermarkets under the "Tesco" and "Tesco Ireland" brands, as well as three hypermarket under the "Tesco Extra" and a small number of convience stores under the "Tesco Ireland Local" and "Tesco Express" brands.

 TrouserPress.com :: Meatmen
The original Meatmen dissolved when singer/schoolteacher Tesco Vee moved to Washington DC, but his resulting itchiness bore fruit in the form of a solo record.
Apparently mellowing with age, Vee limits the objects of his attacks to lesbians, fls, post-punkers and rock stars.
Amid bursts of worthless comedy shtick, Vee's lyrics keep the faith, leering salaciously while attacking foreigners ("French People Suck," "Dichstrudel"), American proles ("True Grit") and health nuts ("Nature Boy") with the unenthusiastic knee-jerk bravado of morons yelling out car windows at women to impress their friends.

Brainwashed - Blight, "Detroit: The Dream is Dead"
Front man for The Meatmen and almost a founder of Touch and Go records, Tesco Vee is probably most famous for his rude posturing and sense of humor.
Tesco Vee enjoyed being shocking, so there's little surprise that he participated in a band like this one.
Every now and then Vee pulls out an "electronic trumpet" and bleats out a few notes here and there just to break up the monotony, but it does little to save what amounts to a collection of fairly poor songs.

The band is basically tall blonde creep Tesco Vee and whatever gang of jackasses he has surrounded himself with for the time being.
Tesco would later on become a crude and poetic master of the form, but at this early point in his musical youth, he just sounded like a horny dumbass.
Vee had yet to come to the realization that he himself was The Meatmen, as far as anybody who gave a rat's ass about that sort of thing was concerned.

Meatmen founder Tesco Vee was born Robert Vermuellen, and grew up mostly in Lansing, MI, where he discovered the music of Detroit proto-punkers like the MC5 and the Stooges.
Vee, uninterested in the business aspects of running a record label, also ceded control of Touch & Go to Rusk, who would build it into one of the most influential indie labels of the '80s.
Vee formed his own Meatking label to issue the new lineup's first effort, the limited-edition Toilet Slave, in 1994.

 teensleaze_meatmen
Tesco’s live circus should be noted here, since at this point, the onstage Meatmen experience was an orgy of cock-star preening, x-rated stand-up comedy ("The fact remains, chickies, I stick my tongue so far up your puckered starfish, I carve my initials in tomorrow's turd!”), bizarre costumes, and even more bizarre props.
It was the end of side one, and Tesco had already packed more references to drugs, pussy, and the rock power of his own band than half the hairspray jocks on Sunset Strip.
Tesco mentioned his admiration of Z in Carbon 14 magazine once a few years back, and it’s pretty obvious that one of ‘em inspired the other, cuz it’s all here - the mammoth, glitter-biker riffs, the gang-bang chorus, and lyrics about evil chicks.
