de Jonge: Levi in Ar. Levi and T. Levi
Levi dealing with the sins of the sons of Levi, is a deliberate addition on the part of the author of this testament who wanted to stress that point, important in his picture of the Levitical priesthood.
Levi the third piece of text seems to have to be connected with the story of Dinah and so will have to be placed somewhere after what remains of the narrative of the Shechem episode in columns a and b of the Cambridge fragment.
Levi is "structurally" Christian; but it does a cknowledge the special position of Levi and his tribe, as (high) priests, judges, scribes and teachers of the Law, in the time before the arrival of Jesus Christ.

 Scriptorium - Primo Levi
Primo Levi was born in Turin, Italy in 1919, to a family of assimilated and fairly non-religious Jews with Spanish roots.
Levi takes great relish in the unveiling of his storyteller, and that delight is transmitted directly to the reader, often through rapport with his literary double, the narrator.
Levi expounds on this uncertainty with greater candor in "Eclipse of the Prophets." This universal uncertainty is both a boon and a bane.

The Testaments of the Twelve Patriarchs
Naphtali.” A Hebrew “Testament of Judah,” which was used both by the Book of Jubilees and the Testaments of the Twelve Patriarchs in their description of the wars of the sons of Jacob, also probably existed.
The sources of the book were found among the scrolls, the source of the “Testament of Levi” is quoted in a sectarian writing (the Damascus Document), a dualistic outlook is common to the book and the sect, and the devil is named Belial in both.
Thus, it is probable that the testaments of the patriarchs were composed in circles in which doctrines of the Dead Sea sect were mitigated and combined with some rabbinic doctrines.

Moreover, at Qumran texts that may be related to two of the testaments have been found: the Aramaic Levi text has a large amount of the material that appears in the Testament of Levi, and a Testament of Naphtali (4Q215) shares some points with the Greek work of the same name.
The author, according to de Jonge, had only the Testaments of Levi and Naphtali before him; the rest of his material he drew from the traditions of the Book of Jubilees and the midrashim in order to preach his Christian ethics useing the sons of Jacob as examples.
Further evidence for this view is provided by the Aramaic fragments of the Testament of Levi from Caves 1 and 4 at Qumran and the Hebrew fragment of the Testament of Naphtali likewise found at Qumran.

Simeon and Levi were brothers, destined to be divided in Jacob, scattered in Israel (Genesis 49; 7) and therefore were not to be concentrated in one specific area.
Levi, however, like Simeon, seems to have achieved his natural expression more easily through partnership to Judah to whose kingdom (2-Chronicles 13; 9-11) many Levites fled.

 Halpern-Amaru: Naming of Levi
For the unloved Leah, the choice frequently, and certainly in the case of Levi, is related to pursuit of the love Jacob feels for Rachel.
As John Endres notes in his study of the Jacob narratives, a fairly consistent pattern is discernible in the Jubilees presentation of the births: an act of intercourse (except in the cases of Rachel's pregnancies), conception, naming of the c hild, and a date of birth.
Although only a single name is involved with Levi, one might argue that the two explanations that Isaac offers for Levi's name (31:16) parallel the two parental explanations for the names given to Rachel's youngest son.

Though the textual history of The Testament is, as one commentary says, “Byzantine,” [3] and though chapters 17 and 18 show redaction by a Christian editor or interpolater, those chapters also reflect pre-Christian ideas and messianic understandings.
In 17:8 through 18:1, the Testament of Levi describes an apostasy, and it describes that apostasy as a corruption of the priesthood [4].

Testaments of the 12 Patriarchs (I) (Summary of a lecture by J. Davila on 20 February, 1997)
The debate over the origins and nature of the Testaments of the Twelve Patriarchs (hereafter T12P) has been going on for at least three centuries and does not seem yet to be resolved.
This theme is reminiscent of some passages in the sectarian texts that seem to speak of priestly and royal messianic figures, sometimes in the same context and sometimes implying the supremacy of the priestly figure over the royal one.

Was the NT Written in Greek
If the New Testament Scriptures were written in Hebrew, and then at a later time scribes copied the New Testament into Greek, then, according to these people, words and phrases used in Greek do not match the Hebrew ideas and were “glossed” in order to make sense.
If such an influence exists in the writings of the New Testament, and we are sure of the authenticity of the writers, then it is no doubt that Peter, as a Jewish fisherman, would still have been influenced by the culture he was living in at that time.
Examples are the Genesis Apocryphon, the Testament of Levi, a Targum of Job, and a text which refers to "the Son of God" and to "the Son of the Most High." There are also legal documents and letters in Aramaic found in the Cave of Letters of Wadi Habra and at Murabba'at.
