Tetisheri was such a common Egyptian woman who married Ta'o I and became queen in Thebes.
Tetisheri and the queens who succeeded her, Ahhotep II and Ahmose-Nefertary, all contributed to the general understanding of women as influential and capable rulers, paving the way for Hatshepsut to become one of the most remarkable female pharaohs in the history of ancient Egypt.
Although two statuettes of Tetisheri are thought to have come from her tomb at Thebes, the one brought to the British Museum in 1890 has been proven to be a forgery.

 Queen Tetisheri
Tetisheri was the wife of Pharaoh Sanakhtenre Tao I of the Seventeenth Dynasty in Thebes.
She is often credited as the ‘mother of the New Kingdom' because of her powerful influence on her son Seqenenre Tao II and her grandsons, Kamose and Ahmose I who fought to expel the Hyksos from Egypt and lead the country into a new age of wealth and prosperity.
Tetisheri was not of royal blood, but her husband went against tradition and made her his ‘Great Wife’.

 Hippo Review and Commentary
At Tetisheri's death her daughter Ahhotep became regent during the absence of Ahmose, her son, at the Nubian campaigns.
Tetisheri rested in her Theban tomb for nearly six centuries, until the brigandage in the Necropolis became so uncontrolled that it was necessary to gather up the royal mummies and move them from place to place out of danger of the thieves.
When Tetisheri was laid in her tomb in the Theban hills, one of her faithful retainers, the Overseer Senseneb, placed in her chapel a pair of delightful little statues that 'her name might live forever', picturing her as the charming young person she must have been when she married the now forgotten Tao the Elder.

One such queen was Tetisheri, who maintained political influence over the ruling men of the 17th Dynasty of Thebes.
Tetisheri was the commoner wife of the pharaoh Sequnenre Tao I who reigned during Hyksos occupation in the north, during 1594-1592.
Although her contribution seems to be small, it appears obvious that this Queen held great emotional and spiritual ties within her family, allowing for a strong support network within the royal community- a necessary union for success against the Hyksos.

They are soon reminded of his visit when a notorious antiquities dealer, whom they liken to a hippopotamus because of his girth, warns them to watch whom they trust.
The undertaking was prefaced by a strange encounter in a Luxor hotel with a mysterious stranger who talked of reincarnation, claimed to know the tomb's exact location, and died of poison in the middle of the meeting.

The Theban saviors of Egypt were a closely knit family in which the women, whether on account of personal attractions or because they were the recognized transmitters of sovereignty, played an extraordinarily prominent part.
The latter alternative is, however, ruled out in the case of Tetisheri, one of the earliest of these queens, since fragments of her mummy-cloth found in the great Der el-Bahri cache, inform us that she was the daughter of commoners.
The important point here is that King Amosis asserts his own parents to have been the children of the same mother and father, a classical example of brother and sister marriage.
