		Two series of quasi-binary systems of constant methane mole fraction with mixtures of tetracosane and triacontane with composition varying between pure tetracosane and pure triacontane were studied.
		A gradual isothermal substitution of tetracosane by triacontane at constant mole fraction methane increases the bubble-point pressure and the dew-point pressure, while the liquidus temperature at constant pressure passes through a minimum.

		The diffusive motion in monolayers of tetracosane (n-C_24H_50), a prototypical flexible-chain alkane molecule of intermediate length, is of interest as a first step in investigating the interfacial dynamics of more complex polymers.
		We have performed quasielastic neutron scattering (QNS) experiments on tetracosane monolayers adsorbed on the (0001) surfaces of an exfoliated graphite substrate at two different energy/time resolutions: \sim1 \mueV (\sim4 ns) and \sim100 \mueV (\sim40 ps).
		The higher resolution spectra show the energy width of the QNS to be independent of the wave vector transfer Q at temperatures of 180-200 K, a behavior consistent with molecular dynamics simulations which show rotational motion of the molecules about their long axis.
