  Tetrahydrogestrinone (THG) Profile
Tetrahydrogestrinone (often referred to as THG or the "Clear") is a potent anabolic and progestagenic androgenic steroid that is chemically and structurally related to two other synthetic anabolic steroids, gestrinone and trenbolone (1).
The use of tetrahydrogestrinone (THG) by several elite athletes led the US Congress to add it to the Anabolic Steroid Control Act of 2004 as a "Schedule III" controlled substance.
THG, although pharmacologically defined as an anabolic-androgenic steroid, was legally defined as an "unapproved new drug" during its role in the BALCO scandal.

FDA bans the sale of designer steroid THG
The new drug, tetrahydrogestrinone, or THG, is not a dietary supplement, the federal agency said, but a "purely synthetic designer steroid" derived from another banned steroid.
Taylor, associate commissioner of food and drugs for regulatory affairs, testified before Congress on Tuesday that tetrahydrogestrinone is derived from gestrinone, a drug banned by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency.
Tetrahydrogestrinone is made by the Bay Area Laboratory Co-Operative, a Burlingame, Calif., company owned by Victor Conte, a former track athlete who was a bassist known as Walkin' Fish with the funk band Tower of Power before he started Balco to offer "nutritional testing and counseling" to athletes.
