Inoue moves the focus with a speed that is at first disorientating but demonstrates the concise precision that has made his deserved reputation as an artist that is not afraid to explore and expand.
Tetsu's second release for Tzadik delves deeper into the methods of sonic microscopy that marked his debut, constructing minute, peerless sound-surfaces that break apart and reconstitute in the shifting nth-dimensional space of the ear.
Tetsu Inoue is a composer and sound artist who has worked in a variety of musics -- ambient, sound installation, dance music, techno and is a frequent collaborator of Bill Laswell and Haruomi Hosono.

 TETSU INOUE - YOLO
Tetsu Inoue has become one of the most respected minimalist electronic artsists around, highlighted by his collaborations with ambient producer Peter Namlook.
Yolo is Inoue’s ninth solo album to date and continues his love affair with the dissection and manipulation of field recordings and synth sounds – amalgamating them into jagged, rhythmic compositions envisaging a variety of moods and environments.
Inoue’s more traditional ambient-techno minimalism is also on show on the opening Tane, and Flow – where Inoue injects more emotion than many artists in his field.

In the middle of 1996, Inoue put together a recording combining atmospheric ambient and soundscapes evoking distant lands, faraway places.
What separated World Receiver from Inoue's history and from the rest of the pack, was the seamless blending of environmental recordings literally from all over the world.
It is a subtle texture from Inoue acting as a filter to what is intended to be receptions of signals from across the globe through one 'world receiver' radio.

I think Tetsu's work, aside from working well as excellent post-rave chill-out muzak for mixmedia moodswing, almost always gives some kind of emotional satisfaction.
And yet the journey that every Tetsu album takes the listener through seems carefully planned, meticulously constucted to bring the most out of all the little sounds that pass us by seemingly unnoticed.
I know this is only a fraction of what Master Heart releases, but Tetsu is certainly prolific by most standards, particularly given the amount of time they were released in.

With this release, Inoue demonstrates his willingness to delve into something fairly different from past projects.
Tetsu's sequencer makes the natural selection, choosing sounds which will compete and overlap as another whirring intonation facilitates the theme's disintegration.
